We have grown and evolved to continuously improve.

Everyone talks about the importance of “quality,” but we here at RL Hudson are not content to simply talk. We act on our belief that our customers deserve nothing less than the best parts we can supply. To that end, founder Rick Hudson decided back in 1993 that his company should have its own in-house inspection lab.

Thirteen years later, what began as a one-person endeavor has grown into a nine-person team. Led by Darrel Kunkel, our Director of Quality, our team includes four inspectors, all utilizing very sophisticated software and equipment. Having started with a single optical comparator, we now use a Voyager 1000 video imaging system with View Metrology Software (VMS) and a View Benchmark® 450 laser scanning video imaging system. We also use an Opti-Flex™ 4000 series video imaging system, which allows us to magnify parts, attach notations, and e-mail images, all from one station. In addition, we can inspect and measure large or unusual parts using our own Cordax® RS-50 coordinate measurement machine (CMM).

So though our Quality Assurance department has grown and evolved, one thing that has not changed is our commitment to supplying high-quality parts. For more on our Director of Quality, please see the cover story.
