MICRO PLASTICS VISITS HUDSON TECH CENTER

Micro Plastics visits Hudson Tech CenterThanks to a special arrangement with Micro Plastics, the world’s largest manufacturer of plastic fasteners and hardware, we at RL Hudson can provide our customers with a tremendous variety of threaded nylon fasteners and related plastic fastening devices. Representatives from Micro Plastics recently visited RL Hudson’s new Engineering & Research Center in Oklahoma to update members of our sales and engineering teams on the full range of Micro Plastics offerings.

On hand were Bruce Sanders, sales manager for Micro Plastics, and James Underwood, sales representative. Bruce and James outlined the in-house tooling fabrication, injection molding, and inventory capabilities of the company. They then detailed the impressive array of parts – including spacers, washers, and bushings – produced by Micro Plastics.

Founded in the early 1960s and now headquartered in Arkansas, Micro Plastics is an ISO 9002 registered company recognized around the globe as an industry leader. In addition to the other items we at RL Hudson offer – O-rings, shaft seals, hoses, and custom-molded parts – we can also supply you with the full range of high quality Micro Plastic products. What could be simpler, or more convenient?

ON-SITE GENERATOR HAS OUR BACKUP

On-Site Generator has our backupWe’ve all been there: a storm comes in and the power goes out. An inconvenience at the very least, but if such a power outage prevented those of us here at RL Hudson from entering or shipping an order, it could quickly become a real headache for our customers. To prevent that from happening, we recently installed our very own on-site Standby Emergency Generator at our Oklahoma facility.

Manufactured by Kohler and powered by a turbo-charged John Deere engine, our 230 kilowatt generator features two auto-transfer switches: one for our original Corporate Headquarters, and the other for our new Engineering & Research Center. Should the electricity be interrupted for any reason, the generator will automatically switch on and route power to maintain our computer network, lights, lab equipment, and shipping stations.

Equivalent to the backup units employed by hospitals and nursing facilities, our generator features a digital control panel, digital switch meters, and remote monitoring capabilities. Should the need arise, our generator will automatically switch itself on and immediately notify our IT personnel. Best of all, the generator’s presence will ensure that, rain or shine, we will always be able to meet our customers’ needs.

PHYLLIS ALCORN: 25 IN “HUDSON YEARS”

Phyllis Alcorn: 25 in "Hudson Years"It’s not every day you hear about someone who has been with the same company for a quarter of a century, but we have just such a person here at RL Hudson. Our own Phyllis Alcorn was first hired on May 20, 1981, back when the company consisted of four – that’s right, just four – people. Over the past twenty-five years, Phyllis has typed memos, issued purchase orders, written checks, answered the phones, and even helped out in the warehouse! She’s now in charge of all of our accounts payable.

“Phyllis has worked for RL Hudson since 6 B.C.,” says Mike McNulty, Vice President of Finance & Administration and himself a 19-year veteran of the company. “That’s six years before computers! Seriously, the perspective that her 25-year history with us brings to the accounting area has proven invaluable many times. Her enthusiasm, and the loyalty and work ethic she brings to the job, have made working with Phyllis a great pleasure over the years.”

“CEO Rick Hudson likes to introduce me as his oldest employee,” says Phyllis. “I never quite like the sound of that. I tell people I may be the longest-term employee, but I’m still only 25 – in Hudson years!”
