More recently, rheometers have begun to be supplanted by the rubber process analyzer (RPA). Whereas viscometers measure properties before cure, and rheometers gauge properties both before and during cure, the RPA is designed to measure properties of polymers and rubber compounds before, during, and after curing. Processibility is a key parameter gauged by the RPA, along with cure characteristics and final cured properties.
