A shaft
seal’s ability to function effectively
is the end result of not only good design,
but also meticulous manufacturing. Proper mold
making, case stamping,
and rubber mixing are necessary prerequisites
to molding a shaft seal. The molding itself
must be carefully monitored to ensure quality
and consistency. After molding, a typical seal
must still undergo trimming,
spring insertion,
and finishing before it’s ready for shipment
and use.
Figure

processes come together to produce a high quality
shaft seal. Numbers in parentheses refer to
