In
addition to the physical properties discussed
in the preceding section, there are also a couple
of very important chemical properties you should
consider when choosing an elastomeric
compound. Primarily, the material must be
chemically compatible with
the substance(s) to be sealed. You must also
anticipate any volume
changes that the compound may
undergo as a result of contact with system fluids.
