Unlike
the other options highlighted in this section,
fluoroplastic-encapsulated O-rings
retain the same circular cross-section as
standard O-rings (see Figure 145).
They feature a fluoroplastic jacket around a core
material (such as Viton® or silicone).
These expensive alternatives to elastomeric O-rings
are used as static
seals in environments featuring harsh chemicals
and high temperatures.
